2015-16 Mid-Season Issue
Colorado's top goalscorer in the season gave us his word on the Avs and the league.
GSN Reporter: Hello Josh, thanks for coming. You are the Av who have netted the most so far in this season, how does it feel?
Josh Rogers: I am the one who tahnks you for an opportunity like this. Now answering your question, this has been a happy year for me. I had a great rookie season netting 24 goals, now i am already at 21 with 36 games left, breaking my personal record is what i want the most.
G: What about your teammates, what you have to say about them? How it is to play aside Doug Kudelski?
JR: Doug is awesome, he delivers us snipers handsome passes but sometimes he just don't look to the side and scores after deking two opponents. Playing with guys like Samsonov, Gagne and Legwand helped and has been helping me a lot.
G: Some people considered you a steal to drop that far un the 2012 draft, when you were a late 1st round pick.
JR: Well, everybody knew i had a lot of qualities but nobody believed i could develop a good defensive game. Coach Hartley has taught me a lot here and trainign with Zahuranec in the minors also gave me more defensive sight.
G: Tell us, what's the secret of your famous wristshot?
JR: Actually when i was a kid, my dad used to drink a lot, so i put his empty bottles over a barrell and tried to hit them with the puck. In my rookie college year people were all excited about my abilities to shoot the puck.
G: Being a Colorado homie, how exciting it is to play for the Avs?
JR: I spend my childhood watching guys like Sakic play, that explains my love for the wristshot. Those epic battles between Colorado and Detroit made a lot of kids start playing hockey at the time.
G: Last one, who do you think has been the biggest surprise so far in the season?
JR: 'Canes Synek is playing an awesome hockey in his rookie season, i'm also surprised by Huselius comeback, he is my favorite player to watch this year cause he is working hard to prove older guys still have a value in this league.
G: Thanks, J.R.
JR: My pleasure.
